Broke 40mpg on the way to work this morning according to the trip computer. 50mph roads most of the way. Previous best was getting 36mpg out of the Mini with 99% highways.

Wow, that’s pretty great! I took a 300 mile trip this weekend and averaged 33 mpgs with two bikes on the roof and about an hour of stop and go traffic and I was ecstatic. 40mpgs would be awesome.

I’m loving the combination of 60 more horsepower, 5 more mpg on average, and taking 87 instead of 93 ($1 less a gallon up here) compared to the Mini. I’ve been running the AC constantly too while the Mini never had functioning AC.

Nice!! 37.3 is the best I have done in the Alltrack on my 11ish mile commute. 17.2 is the worst I have done on that same commute (¬¬)

I managed to get the Mini down to 12.6 mpg once at a track day.

The Kona LOVES non-ethanol 93 octane, I got it up to a TANK AVERAGE of 37.6mpg running that stuff. The improvement in fuel economy nearly perfectly offsets the price difference, but you also get a little more scoot from the non-ethanol stuff. Too bad you can’t buy it everywhere... The FieSTa didn’t show nearly the same economy improvement on non-ethanol 93... Maybe because Ford’s ECU tuning leaned toward power and Hyundai’s leans toward efficiency. Have you put non-ethanol in it yet?

Now that the M3 doesn’t see too many highways, I don’t do much better than that. I’ve been getting in the mid 13s.

My Cooper consistently did 30-31. Got it down to 12.6 at a track day once.

Nice! :D

I’m not an ‘eco mentalist’ (as Jeremy Clarkson calls them...) that drives 5mph everywhere hypermiling, but it can be sortof amusing to play the ‘how much can I squeeze out of a tank’ game once and awhile!

The Mini loved the non ethanol stuff. Noticeably more pep. No improvement in economy, probably because I was enjoying the extra pep.

Only filled the Corolla once so far and I just went to the Citgo near my apartment. I don’t know of anywhere to get ethanol free regular near me. The VP station in Colchester only has ethanol free 91.

I never did better than 15 even with my 50/50 commute.

It’s like Top Gear’s Prius vs M3 test. The M3 puttering around does slightly better than the Mini at full send.

I used to get that when I first got it on open Texas roads. Straight highway, I’ve gotten 20 on something like 3 tanks.

Nice!!! It has a turbo, correct? I've never run a turbo car on anything less than 93.

That’s where I was with my C30 on my daily 7 mile commute. Driving like it was  all a very congested race track was not the best choice economically...

I love leaving the city, getting on the highway and watching the "Miles to Empty" meter steadily climb.

Almost everything is. That said unless I’m mistaken the only car Toyota sells in the US market with a turbo is the Supra and that isn’t even a Toyota engine.

I really enjoy my 1997 LX450, but it’s a LOT to drive around town and commute in. Unfortunately I’ve been having a lot of knee pain lately and it’s kept me from biking to work, so more driving the LX in its non-natural habitat is not exactly fun.

Huh. That's interesting. I had no idea they didn't use any turbos. I actually went to the local Toyota dealership yesterday with my son to look at the new Supra. It was pretty cool. White with red interior. I was taken by how small it looks and I thought it looked better than the previous gen Supra parked next to it.
